ADULT/FAMILY MINISTRIES
The following opportunities are available at First UMC to build up and live out our faith in Jesus Christ as a community of believers. They include everything from potluck dinners to indepth Bible Study classes to small groups. We have organized these opportunities into the general areas of Fellowship, X-ploration (Sunday Morning Adult Education), Small Groups, and Women in Ministry.
FELLOWSHIP
| The Nurture Ministry Team is responsible for creating family oriented fellowship activities for our church. In the past we have sponsored events such as: Bowling party, Spiritual Outdoor Adventure Retreats (biking, hiking, canoe/kayaking), Family Movie Nights, Church Picnics, Christmas Caroling party, and decorating and lighting of the Annex Christmas tree. We have lots of fun planning enjoyable and meaningful activities. Please contact Pastor Sam if you have any ideas for activities, maybe even one that you would be willing to lead. |

4M's (Merry Mature Murrysville Methodists)
We are a group of fun loving, 50+ age adults who enjoy Christian Fellowship with like-minded individuals. We get together to eat out, attend plays, tour historical sites, attend sporting events, etc. Sometimes we meet at the church for potlucks and programs, but usually our events are outside the church.
Senior Lunch
Once a month a fellowship lunch is provided for the Senior members of our church at a reasonable cost. It is a great time for Seniors to connect with each other. After each meal a program is planned to provide some education or entertainment value to our Seniors. Check our calendar for our next monthly meal. All Seniors are welcome!! For more information contact Marcia Sayre.
XPLORATION - SUNDAY MORNING ADULT EDUCATION FOUNDATION SERIES
Xploration is our adult Sunday morning education program. The letter X symbolically represents Christ. On Sunday mornings adults have the opportunity to explore their faith in Jesus Christ through three foundational series that are offered September through May. Participants may attend any course in any series at any time. To enroll call the church office or register here. Xploration classes do not meet during the summer months. 2010 /20 11 classes will be announced in August.

SMALL GROUPS
|
The purpose of small groups at First UMC is to connect people to God, each other, and the church, so that people may be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. This is accomplished through small groups that care for participants individually, develops them into fully devoted followers of Christ, and challenges them to serve God with their gifts. First UMC has a a variety of discipleship small group opportunities.
If you are looking for a small group or want to know what is happening in one of our small groups, click here and you will see a complete list of all our small groups. You can email the small group leader for more information or give them a call. You may also peruse the Small Group booklet (pdf file) for a more extensive listing of all our small groups (includes other ministry groups such as Choirs, Puppets, etc.) at First UMC.

WOMEN IN MINISTRY
We welcome all women in the church to participate in Women in Ministry. Our hope and prayer is to help one another discover our God-given spirituality and grow together in trust and authenticity. Our goal is to continue to become vibrant and healthy women living for Jesus Christ in today's world. The Martha and Naomi Circles are part of this ministry. Women in Ministry participate in mission giving, Bible studies, women's dinners and luncheons, and other fellowship times such as retreats.
Naomi Circle
Naomi Circle is a small evening circle created for those women wanting the fellowship of other women but unable to meet during the day. We enjoy the warmth and interaction of a social time together where we share each other's lives, both joys and concerns. We enjoy going to a restaurant to eat out every other month. Our ongoing service project is sending handcrafted cards to our college students. We are helped in this endeavor by a couple of really "crafty" ladies in our group. Naomi Circle meets the third Wednesday of every month starting at 7 p.m. Contact Becky Marshall, beckysinthehouse@aol.com for more information.
Martha Circle
Martha Circle provides an opportunity for felloship and study for women. We support several mission projects and help with funeral luncheons. We meet the third Tuesday of every month starting at 1:30 p.m. at church. Contact Janet Kessinger, at 724-327-7826 for more information.
