Shoebox Christmas Collection: November 6 - November 27th

Shoebox Christmas is a program that provides Christmas gifts to children in need in the Dakotas and Minnesota. This may be the only gift these children receive this holiday. Over 6,500 gifts were distributed in 2019.

The shoeboxes should be compiled based on age groups (infant/toddler, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and 13+). Please include a $13 check for each box to cover shipping. If you like to help with the shipping cost without a shoebox, please send a check with any amount to the church with “Shoebox shipping” in the memo line.

About the shoebox: You can use any shoeboxes that you may have. Please wrap the box and the lid separately. You may also consider using (wrapped) Tupperware or other plastic boxes as the children have liked saving them as containers. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Shoeboxes can be dropped off in the Narthex between November 6 and November 27.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Westmoreland County Food Bank Collections: November 1-20th

It’s November again. Time of falling leaves, chilly days and preparing for that great turkey day. There are families in our neighborhood who won’t be able to have that special time. For them the meal may be thin or non-existent. Hunger pinches a little harder this time of the year.

For the month of November, we will be collecting nonperishables for the Westmoreland County Food Bank. Beginning on November 6th, bring your donations to the church. We can bring them into the sanctuary this year. On November 20th we can pray over them that the families receiving the food will be blessed. That next week arrangements will be made to have it picked up. Thank you for your generosity and your caring.

Guidelines from the Food Bank

With the help of others, like you, Westmoreland County Food Bank can reduce hunger and help provide food for those in need.  We serve the community by providing food to pantries, meal programs, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and childcare programs.

Your food drive provides a variety of food items for those we serve.

List of items most needed:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Cereal
  • Canned or pouched tuna, chicken or salmon
  • Boxed meals, such as Mac n cheese or Hamburger Helper
  • Heavier soups or stews

*We accept non-perishable food, toiletries, soaps, paper products and diapers. Baby food must be in original packaging and not expired or open.
